Model shows how she changed from dangerously thin to healthy and happy

The story of model Liza Golden-Bhojwani is incredibly body-positive — the highly successful model was once involved in strict runway work, where her only option was to be as thin as possible.

Now however, Liza has realised that her unhealthy obsession with dangerously low-carb diets wasn't making her happy. The journey to becoming a healthier weight wasn't easy, either.
These days, Liza has found a happy middle ground where she knows she looks beautiful, healthy, and true to herself.

Liza was at the height of her career as a model in 2013 when it all became too much.
Just four years ago she was modelling in fashion weeks all over the world – and living on meals of just steamed edamame. While she was at the peak of her professional life, she was sacrificing her happiness.

Writing on Instagram, the brunette model said: “I was booking amazing shows that one never thinks they actually could, walking with girls who I once looked up to, it was a serious adrenaline rush...
"But after fainting one night in my apartment whilst preparing one of my very low cal meals (I think it was 20 pieces of steamed edamame if I remember correctly), I called it quits.

“I thought to myself, I can still be this thin, but I'll just eat a little more so I don't feel so horrible," explained the New Jersey-born model.
“Well, eating a little more turned into eating nearly a bag full of almonds, which then turned into eating full size meals, which then turned into a full blown binge.”
Liza said this resulted in a two-week binge between New York and London fashion weeks – which saw her gain an inch around her waist. For a model in today's conventional fashion shows, that inch was too much.
She said: “I beat myself up for a long time, playing it over and over again in my head how I completely failed.
“It was really a struggle, as I saw so many other girls just getting there so easily, eating whatever they wanted and barely working out while I was busting my ass.”

The beautiful model said she ended up in a bad state before one day she decided to just listen to her body and go with it instead of fight against it.
Liza said: “That’s what I did, slowly slowly I was coming into my true body form. My natural self, not my forced self.
“Not perfect, not show ready or VS ready, not the best, but it is mine and my soul is happy.
‘“I eat what I want and I feel no guilt. And for me that’s a good feeling. Maybe I wasn’t made to be on the covers of magazines and shooting the biggest and best brands, but I was made for a reason.”
