Turns Out Kylie Jenner Is a Phoebe Philo Fan
Still mourning Phoebe Philo’s departure from Céline? You’re not alone. Since December’s announcement that Philo would be leaving the house, the designer’s celebrity acolytes have been pulling out their favorite pieces from her tenure. While it’s normal to see fans like Lorde wearing one of the label’s tuxes onstage or Miranda Kerr pulling out one of her many Céline purses from her wardrobe.
it was more surprising to see Kylie Jenner pick out a look from Philo’s final runway. Stepping out last night with big sisters Kendall and Kim Kardashian West, Jenner chose a turtleneck dress from the Spring 2018 collection. Covered in wavy brushstrokes in shades of taupe and gray, the print was a departure for Jenner, but the figure-hugging silhouette was true to form.
The piece was worn loose and paired with a fringed skirt on model Fran Summers during the show, but Jenner switched things up to make the outfit work with her slinky style. Adding a pair of transparent Yeezy Season 5 wedge sandals and pulling her hair into a high ponytail, she upped the sex appeal to make an editorial look work for her. Though her love of glossy Hollywood glamour may seem like the antithesis of Philo’s aesthetic, this isn’t the first time Jenner has taken Céline for a spin. The brand’s popular Luggage totes are a regular part of her accessories lineup, but here, Jenner upgraded to ready-to-wear and delivered what may be the week’s most unexpected style moment.
